These work really well for cutting a chicken into parts, as they slice through the ribs very easily. Also work well on snipping off the ends of the wings, and cutting other fowl such as turkeys, ducks, etc. I pulled these out yesterday to cut a whole chicken in half for grilling, and was again pleased at how well they cut it up--both in how easily the cuts were made and in the control when cutting--use of handles, direction, etc. Just bought a second set for another family member, who watched me cut up the chicken and was amazed at how easy it was, which reminded me I should write a review on this. I have several other kitchen shears, as well as cleavers and knives, but this is what I pull out for cutting fowl for cooking. Won't work for after-cooking slicing, of course--that's what the knives are for. I have no financial interest in anything I review.

I purchased these shears after struggling with inferior products that just weren't up to the task. There is no doubt that these shears are extremely sharp and easily cut through poultry with a minimum effort on your part. There are two flaws: (1) as another reviewer mentioned, the spring comes off very easily and, (2) the latch on the end of the handles frequently locks while you are cutting which is very frustrating. It is amazing that such a fine product is marred by such ridiculous flaws. I wouldn't purchase them again unless the flaws were corrected.

These are very well made, solid stainless steel. They are shipped very sharp and wear well, its been 6 months and they are a sharp as the day I got them, amazing given half the time I am using them on thing other than chicken bones. The spring is very good, its a bit tough and first and it wears your hand out but I am sure after a couple years they will have broken in enough. I highly recommend this product.
