High quality; strange combination,

After receiving this set as a gift, I have been pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the items included. The peeler is handy and effective for day-to-day vegetables (carrots, etc.), and it even held its own against a butternut squash.
By far, the most useful items in the set are the paring knife and the shears. Both are sharp and comfortable to grip, and I find that I'm using them all the time! And since both have simple black handles/color, it's easy to mix and match them in most knife blocks without having them stand out as different from other sets.
Least helpful seems to be the sandwich spreader. I love the idea, but I seem to just opt for a knife rather than turning to the spreader. I'm curious as to why they included that vs. a more multi-purpose item.
All in all, I'd definitely recommend this product, particularly for someone newly setting up kitchen.

I bought this during a "gold box" special for my niece who just moved into her own apartment. I like the brand and have knives of my own. Normally, this would have been out of my price range but the "special" made it close enough to purchase. The quality of the brand speaks for itself.

This is a great combo! I have lots of Wusthof products and love them all! The sandwhich spreader is a product I was not looking for, but it was included in the package. The sandwhich spreader is flexible; I can see how it is nice if you are making say 5 chicken salad sandwhiches at once. Also since it is not pointly sharp on the end, you can use this piece to introduce kids to the art of using knives.
