Product Description
Victorinox Cutlery is the knife of choice for professionals and consistently receives high accolades in product testing. This "best-in-class" commercial grade cutlery is now available for home use. Victorinox knives feature high carbon, stainless steel blades, hand finished at Victorinox in Switzerland by skilled craftsmen. A special tempering process is used to produce an edge that can be resharpened over and over again, so the knife can keep its original sharpness throughout the entire life of the blade. Victorinox handles are ergonomically designed to minimize wrist tension. They provide a natural fit. A good heft and comfortable, positive grip are indications of a well-made knife. A sure-grip handle with a finger guard is valuable feature since the handle inevitably gets greasy, wet, or both. Although cutlery steel is naturally sanitary, materials and construction details of the handle minimize crevices what would offer hospitality to bacteria. Patented, NSF approved Fibrox handle on 8-inch Chef's Knife and 5-inch Utility Knives are slip resistant and dishwasher safe. Tomato/Bagel Knifes and Steel have Black Poly Handles.

Comment: Excellent knife composition. Sharpness is wonderful. Great to have a knife you actually have to use good safety precautions with; requires less WORK - wonderful.
Comment: I use these knives all the time. They are nice and sharp and are comfortable to use. I also love the fact that, unlike my more expensive knives, I can throw them in the dishwasher once in a while. Very convenient.
For the price, I don't think you can beat these knives.

Comment: In a word, cheap and awful. I bought this as a gift for my wife, she hates the, They are cheap, weak plastic handles, blades that bend, dont even think about it, spend more for quality knives in this case. Went tp Macy's and bought proper Henkle knives

Summary: great knives - ugly packaging 2009-12-16
Comment: I just bought these knives to give as a Christmas gift. Since I already own all of them, I know they are excellent knives and a great deal at [...] bucks (I paid $[...] for just the large chef knife 2 years ago) The 2 smaller knives are great for slicing small tomatoes, sandwiches, and general peeling and slicing (of all of them, the small serrated knife is the one I absolutely could not live without.) Anyway, the only problem I have is with the packaging. The Amazon box came with each knife in a cheap clear plastic sleeve and all of them wrapped together in brown craft paper. Not exactly gift ready. I had assumed that they would come packaged together as a set. I'm still giving it 5 stars because of the excellent value on quality knives.

Summary: Great quality, nice balance 2009-12-02
Comment: I've had my Victorinox knives for over 15 years and they still perform beautifully. I would add a bread knife to this collection and a 10" chef's knife, and you have a set that will provide you with many years of service. I went into the store prepared to spend $150 for three top quality knives in 1995, and left with five Victorinox for $50--to me this was a bargain. I also really like the balance of the knives, I find them very comfortable and the non-slip handles a big help and safety feature.
