Set Includes:
• 4" paring knife
• 6 1/2" utility knife
• 8" chef's knife
• 9" bread knife
• 9" honing steel
• Kitchen/herb shears
• 11-slot bamboo block

The essential starter set, unprecedented in the history of Japanese blade performance. This Shun Premier 7-piece knife block set with striking, hammered-tsuchime finish ensures ultra-smooth release and precision accuracy for high-speed prep. Handcrafted convex-ground edge moves food away from blade to chop, slice, dice and mince with clean, precise strokes. Shun's 16 degree extreme edge is ground thinner for razor sharpness, ensuring delicate fruits and vegetables remain intact for perfect presentation. This tapered edge holds a sharp edge longer.

Shun knives, clad with 32 layers of high-carbon stainless-steel pattern Damascus and VG-10 super-steel core are the cutlery tools professional chefs reach for in the kitchen. Paring knife with precision tip peels, minces, slices and creates garnishes with record speed. Utility knife pierces and slices cleanly through thick-skinned vegetables and rind of roasts without tearing. The hardworking chef's knife is the gourmet's necessity to mince, dice, chop and slice with ultra-fast accuracy. Slicing soft sandwich bread or hard-crusted artisan loaves, the bread knife cuts quickly, leaving moist centers intact.

With the sharpening steel and kitchen/herb shears, a professional chef has every tool for restaurant-quality preparation and presentation. Ebony-black PakkaWood handles with glove-fitting grip and full tang ensure long-life balance and durability. Stain- and rust-resistant cutlery blades. Durable 11-slot bamboo storage block. Hand wash tools. Made in Japan. Lifetime manufacturer warranty

Award-winning knife designer Shun continues the 700-year-old tradition of delivering the finest Asian cutlery.

You could spend more for knives but few people would ever need anything better than these. They're super sharp, beautifully made and perfectly balanced. I'll enjoy these knives for the rest of my life, I'm sure.

This set of kitchen knives are truly in a league of their own. After having tried a multitude of Western and traditional Japanese knives, this is without a doubt, the MUST have addition to any kitchen. This adds a whole new dimension to cooking. With the right care and use, these knives are sure to last a lifetime. The blades on each knive cut effortlessly through any food item. Trust me, I have put the knives through their paces! Even surprised with the bread knife - not a crumb is dropped slicing through it. I would challenge any review that has any fault with these knives. Even the price. You pay for what you get, and that is, an unrivalled kitchen utensil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best, sharpest knives I've ever used!, January 27, 2012

A few months back, I purchased my first Shun, a Premier Santoku. I had at the time a set of J A Henckels Four Star knives that I've been using about 10 years. I've already reviewed the first one, and in that review I stated I was thinking of replacing the Henckels with a set of Shuns...and that's what I did. I sold the Henckels. These knives are not only the sharpest I've ever used, they are also the most beautiful ones. The photos on the web site do not do them true justice. They are perfectly balanced and extremely well made.

If you want the best, get yourself some Shun knives.
