Shun DM2004B Classic 9-Piece Knife Set with Bamboo Block

I was introduced to the Kershaw Shun Knives in a local kitchen store, but decided to purchase a set at a better price through Amazon. These knives are absolutely top quality and make cutting even very thin slices a joy. Because of my appreciation for the quality, I purchased two more knives as Christmas gifts for my son and daughter in law.

I recently purchased the Shun Classic 9-Piece Block Set with Bamboo Block and I realized that I have never owned a really good knife before, even though I have had some "name" brands. Slicing, cutting, chopping is effortless, like cutting through butter. The bamboo block is very attractive, however it is about 11" deep and with the projection of the knives up to 4" beyond that, it is a formidable presence on the counter. Overall, very happy to the point of euphoria!

I bought these knifes a year ago and almost most of them are chipping off. I have used them only on good boards and only hand wash them. When I call the company for warranty they want me to send them over and they may fix or replace them and may take up-to 6 weeks. They told me that this normal for these knifes becasue they are very thin and fragle. I am confused they say these knifes can cut through anything then the warranty department says nothing expect soft things. Beside that I never did use it on hard items anyway.
