Searched for a while to find the right "sizzzle plates". Always wanted to have our steaks served on hot plates just like the restaurants do. Now we got 'em.

These plates came with no instructions. It is unknown whether they have to be seasoned or not. When I washed the plates, the water beaded on the surface of the plates. I am not sure if this means the plates have a coating or if cast iron always beads like this. I am assuming they are cast iron with no coating and seasoned them. The plates work perfectly and the meal on these plates was excellent. I cooked the steak, placed the plates in the oven (with no steak on them) at 450 degrees until they were very hot. Then placed the plates on the table, rubbed butter (I know, fattening) to the surface of the plates, and placed pieces of steak onto the plates. The steak sizzled in the butter. The meal was excellent. Not something I will use every day. But when I cook steak, these will work out well. Have always wanted to make a steak meal like my favorite steak restaurant. Now I can.

I carefully ordered plates which had a smooth cutting surface. I received 4 plates from 2 separate source companies, all of which have a ribbed surface which makes it tough cutting steaks. I have returned them all, requesting they ship smooth surfaced items as shown in the picture.
