Made in China rather than France, the Gold series of cutlery is one of Sabatier’s more affordable lines but is still manufactured with quality and is a wonderful value for its price. The knife blades are all hot-drop forged of high-carbon stainless-steel for durability and edges are honed by machine to the precise level of sharpness. The gorgeous forged handles are made of 18/10 stainless steel with an elegant gold-plated accent band just beyond the bolster and the handles are hollow to provide the perfect amount of weight and balance for safe cutting. --Cristina Vaamonde

The knifes arrived dull. The handles have holes in them, especially the steak knifes. The gold trim is not gold but rusted. Very disappointed... 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Sabatier Gold 14-Piece Knife Block Set (Kitchen) Unless you are a professional chef you will surely appreciate the quality of these stylish knives ... you can't go wrong, the knives are VERY sharp and the block is well built. If I had one complaint it would be the scissors which aren't as sharp as the rest of the set....but apart from that a great set especially at that price... 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Sabatier Gold 14-Piece Knife Block Set (Kitchen) I have had knives by this brand for a few years now. They have always been good sturdy knives. When it came time to purchase a new set, I went with these because they had stainless steel handles. At first I worried about have such a slick design, that I would not be able to grip them, but the curves of the handle put the weight of the knife in the palm of your hand, allowing for great control. There were no holes in the handles of the ones that I recieved, and they were very well balanced. Also, the stamped steak knives were of higher quality than the other sets of Sab knives I've seen in this price range.
The reason they get 4 stars instead of 5 is because the chef knife had a rough finish near the handle. Still, the nicest set of under $80-140 knives I've owned. |
