My husband bought this set for me last year Jan(09) for my birthday.These knives are supposed to last a lifetime.Well they didn't. I took care of them according to the directions("handwashing is best").On the top where the two parts of the handles are put together, the glue or whatever it is has broken apart.When i start to put downward pressure on something i am cutting into, the knife bends up into the handle pushing this material out.This has happened on a couple of the knives already,the Santoku being one of them.

Its funny too because i bought another set of knives 30 years ago that i have NEVER sharpened,that have rivets that go THRU the knife blade and handles. A safer concept by far.I thought about getting rid of them and was going to after hubby got these new ones but decided to hold off a bit. I am so glad i didn't. The name of the ones i still have?
