This review is from: Hampton Forge Epicure 15-Piece Knife Set (Kitchen) Being an avid cook, I really needed a knife set but cash is always an issue. My younger sister has a Hampton Forge set, so I decided to give this one a try. It's a good array of knives, and great for the price. One of the knives doesn't seem quite as sharp as I had hoped, but I can always use a sharpener on that. Just make sure to wash your knives by hand (no dishwashers) and avoid using glass or marble cutting boards, and even less expensive sets like this one are sure to keep you happy for a long time. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Hampton Forge Epicure 15-Piece Knife Set (Kitchen) I wanted some simple but well built knives, and in the picture these looked like they would fit the bill.
As I was unboxing them I realized what a mistake these where. The wood isn't nice, in fact it tends to deposit some sap looking stuff on the knives, and it has some knot thing on the lower portion, the wood glue is also coming undone from the top part. The knives themselves have a cheap feel to them, the handles are really light instead of feeling like anything of substance (as the metal tip would lead you to believe, and the black part is a thin rubber skin. The blades themselves aren't bad, but they don't feel like they run the length of the handle or if they do, don't feel like they are held very solidly. I'll use these at home, but the wood block thing is about to get chucked out, and the knives will be assimilated into the knife drawer until they get worn out or thrown out. Next time I'll pick some out at Target so I can have a better...Read more 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Hampton Forge Epicure 15-Piece Knife Set (Kitchen) I've only owned these knives for a couple months, but they've been great so far. I bought them because my older knives would make my hands hurt terribly after long kitchen sessions, and I liked the look of the fatter handles on these ones. I'm glad I chose this set, because they do indeed have a much more comfortable grip. The handles are large, soft rubber, and very easy on the hands. I would definitely recommend these to anyone who spends prolonged periods of time dicing, boning, etc. |
