Product Review

The GINSU 04802 International Traditions Bakelite 2 Piece Carving Set features a serrated blade that never needs sharpening and a textured molded handle, on both the carving knife and fork, that has a classic black comfort grip design.

Amazon.com Review

Many associate Ginsu knives with the product’s kitschy infomercial from the ‘70s that begins with a karate kick to a watermelon and proceeds with a demo of these knives cutting through just about anything in the house. Like the original product, Ginsu’s International Traditions is designed for the home cook who is not attuned to the maintenance required of a more high-end knife. However, this line is an improvement on the original, offering the weight, balance, and style of a commercial-quality knife, while meeting current design trends and performance expectations.

This set provides a 5-inch fork--which holds a pork loin or rump roast still--and a 7-1/2-inch slicer for carving. Both fork head and blade are constructed from stainless steel and have full tangs that extend through lightweight bakelite handles and are triple riveted for strength. The slicer features a two-dimensional serrated edge that is symmetrically-cut on either side for more accurate slicing and for either right- or left-handed use. The edge is still as low-maintenance as ever and never requires sharpening. Ginsu covers this International Traditions cutlery under a limited lifetime warranty, and recommends manual cleaning with hot, soapy water to keep it in top shape. --Cristina Vaamonde

I have a wusthhof classic knife set [forged high quality knives $300]. i was looking for cheap carving set to complement the set and fill the empty slots in the block.
These ginsu knives are the perfect match. It is hard to tell the wusthof handles from these ginsu knives. The triple rivels and handle color and design are right on.
Although blades are not made of forged hi carbon steel[ it's stainless steel], the knife the and fork are able to dissect the occasional turkey/roast.

I really like Ginsu knives. They're super sharp, well balanced and they're inexpensive enough that you don't worry about simply replacing them someday when they get old. I have a block of regular Ginsu knives that include steak knives which we use regularly so, when I needed a carving knife for Thanksgiving, I gave this set a shot. I'm very pleased with them. The fork/tine piece is effective to let you position and hold the bird, and the carving knife itself is razor sharp.

I paid $9 shipped for it, I really can't complain. I used this set to carve my homemade/home brined christmas ham. It worked great and is sharp.
