Farberware’s Classic Series 14-piece cutlery set is reasonably priced and includes all the essential knives for the kitchen and table. The five kitchen knives in the set include an 8-inch chef's for chopping, 8-inch slicer for carving roasts and poultry, 5-inch boning for removing meat from the bone, 4-1/4-inch utility for slicing cheese, vegetables, and meat, and 3-inch paring for mincing and fine chopping. Each kitchen knife is constructed from high-carbon stainless steel with a smooth edge to allow for easy sharpening. The set also includes six 4-1/2-inch serrated steak knives that never need sharpening, 8-inch all-purpose kitchen shears, and a handheld sharpener. Full tangs extend through the solid hardwood handles and are secured with three rivets for extra strength. Farberware offers a lifetime limited warranty, recommends washing all knives by hand, and suggests always storing cutlery sets in the appropriate storage location. --Lea Werbel
