I'm prone to take them with me when I make my annual winter trek to Florida. But I decided that TSA might like me more if I stopped trying to schlep my beloved kitchen tools through airline security. So I bought four new knives to stock my recently renovated home with some cutlery basics -- a three knife set (8" chef, 6" serrated tomato knife, 4" parer) plus a separate 8" serrated bread knife. I've become picky when it comes to my bread knives, and the fact that this reasonably priced one remains in my kitchen says a lot. One of my bread knives has serrations spaced father apart, and the slices end up ragged. Another one has blade that is too thin to slice through crispy crusts. Another one is too short to be useful. The one is one of my favorites, lagging behind only my J.A. Henckels Twin Signature 8-Inch Bread Knife which has a better, sharper blade. This knife is generally less expensive than the Henckel version, and therefore makes a great choice for a more...Read more |
