I had already purchased a set of Analon Advanced knives Anolon Advanced 15-Piece Knife Set with Blockand wanted to get another set since this came with the Steak Knives that had the black Santoprene handles instead of the Silver ones in my other set. I would have just traded a few knives between the sets and given the others to my Mother-in-Law.

These are not the same knives at all. The quality is very very low. Since I had duplicates of the same knives from the other set it was like night and day. These are flimsy, very light weight and look and feel cheap. My old 8 inch Chef knife weighs 10oz and this new one weighs in at 7oz to give you an example of the difference. I got these knives last winter and have had enough time to test them out so I can give a truthful reviw. They look very nice, and I got them because I liked the darker looking block. I figured since they didn't have any reviews at the time I got them, but the other 15 piece set had outstanding reviews then the 17 piece would be no different. After almost a year of standard use, these knives are so dull they barely even cut. I do sharpen them on a regular basis with the sharpener that came with the set. The steak knives are so flimsy and dull and are not serrated! All of the other knives are just dull - some of them have even started to come apart. The black rubber handle is seperating from the rest of the knive. Overall, very poor quality.
